Nixon was once hated despite being one of the best presidents post Hoover. However fitting for Nixon he’s making a comeback, but his secretary of state has gone down as the world’s biggest boogie man despite being a decent man. Americans will grovel for JFK and Leo Frank, I hope they can at least show some respect for a man who actually served them. The man who saved several nations from left wing terrorists, who helped orchestrate the mostly peaceful Cold War victory, and the only enlisted Jew in WW2 to see combat for America: Henry Kissinger. Many will accuse Kissinger of being the proto neocon and the only warmonger ever. Men dumber than rocks will say that no joke can top Kissinger receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. These same men will say nothing about Obama getting it, despite being the only recipient to drone strike and kill another recipient. Needful to say this is nonsense, let’s break it down by the common myths.
Kissinger convinced Nixon to bomb neutral Cambodia, or rather not so neutral. The areas bombed in Cambodia were occupied by the Viet Cong or the Khmer Rouge. Forgive my indifference to the bombing of the people who would carry out one of the worst genocides ever. It’s worth noting in World War 2 we invaded French North Africa, it was not occupied by the Germans and was held by Vichy France who according to our government at that point was legitimate and neutral. If that was acceptable, and most Americans believe it was, then bombing enemy positions in a neighboring country is even more justified. Good for Kissinger (and Nixon) for not just fighting the Viet Cong but beating them. Many forget that America was not defeated in the Vietnam War, after bombing North Vietnam and after they were defeated in battle by South Vietnam they signed the Paris Peace Accords which was mostly written by Kissinger. The ghouls claiming he’s a warmonger despite writing the peace deal in Vietnam are sickening, even more sickening are the people who mindlessly listen to the ghouls. The Democrats were unhappy Nixon won the war they started so they sabotaged his victory after he resigned by refusing to supply the South Vietnamese ammo as promised when the North Vietnamese broke the peace deal.
Kissinger genocided the Bengalis! The short answer is that Kissinger (and Nixon) supplied weapons to the pro America Pakistani government during their civil war against the more pro Soviet Bengalis. The goal was to win the war not genocide the Bengalis, although war has tragic and unintended consequences. Like when we funded rebels in the Middle East to overthrow their authoritarian yet functional governments and wound up flooding Europe with Muslims, although that might not have been unintended. Regardless, many are more accepting of trying to overthrow somewhat neutral and democratically elected Assad over aiding Pakistan in a war against pro Soviet Indians and Bengalis. People are more accepting of Churchill starving millions of Bengalis to death in World War 2 even if it was unnecessary to win the war, in fact depending on the source 10 times as many Bengalis died in World War 2 then during the Bengali genocide. Point being, Kissinger supporting anti communists is not the worst thing the US did during the Cold War.
Speaking of which many will say Kissinger single handedly overthrew multiple democratic governments in Latin America to foolishly stop liberal democracy. This is untrue. First off, Operation Condor is overstated, it’s debated how involved America was but the most we did according to anyone remotely credible was offer some money to protestors here and there. We offered far more money to protestors in Afghanistan and that ended far worse than here. Secondly let’s consider what happened. In Argentina President Peron originally came to power in a coup (he was later elected) and appointed his third wife as vice president who came to power when he died. Due to poor decisions by the Peron administration communist terrorists grew out of control. Instead of letting this mess continue, General Videla overthrew Peron’s wife and restored order before resigning at the end of his contract 5 years later. In Chile Allende won 36% of the vote campaigning as a moderate socialist, only to become a borderline Stalinist as president and destroy the economy. Riots ensued (the communists claim they were orchestrated by the CIA and not the price on basic goods increasing by 140 percent during his presidency) and Allende was voted to be removed by 81 to 47 congressman/deputies for destroying the Chilean constitution in a million ways including jailing opponents while refusing to jail left wing terrorists. Just like the United States over the past several years. As a result General Pinochet overthrew Allende and saved Chile, leaving office after restoring elections and narrowly losing his election where he campaigned by lifting weights and doing karate. Neither Allende or Peron had majority support from their people and neither were able to run an economy or stop left wing terrorism, in Allende’s case supporting it, as a result they were overthrown and given the choice to leave the country by men who would resign their presidencies when they didn’t have to. Even if Kissinger personally carried out the coups himself, which he didn’t, then this was the right thing to do in both countries. Chile has the third highest quality of life in the America’s thanks to Pinochet. Argentina has some problems but that is likely due to Videla resigning too soon and his successor being overthrown due to his age.
Kissinger created the modern world! No, thanks to Kissinger and Nixon the Cold War was peacefully won by America. By turning China against the Soviets but not letting it get too violent the major powers avoided war and communism was defeated set back. Under Clinton, not Kissinger/Nixon/Reagan, the US handed its industry to China. Kissinger wasn’t responsible for flooding America with immigrants, promoting degeneracy, or giving our industry overseas. While many leaders in neoliberal America respected Kissinger, they weren’t half as smart. Russia, China, and Iran have overlapping interests and yet our leadership have aligned all 3 against us. Not very realpolitik of American leaders to do that. Many scoffed at Kissinger’s final peace proposal for the Ukraine War, without a hint of cognitive function they decried the Jew proposing peace a war monger and not the Jew prolonging the war by refusing to negotiate, Zelensky. While it wasn’t a perfect proposal, hopeful in the spirit of Kissinger there can be a negotiated peace and lives can be saved.
